Visit to the Park

Tuesday we visited the park, but goodness grief was it hot!! In fact way too hot to go on the slide even, everything burnt. Still we played for a little and then went for coffee with a friend of my mom's. Ice cold Coke and ice creams!  Nice.

Family Braai

Sunday meant Family Braai (aka - BBQ). From the moment I woke up there were people here setting up things! Food prep, braai prep, etc. All together we had my girls, my family, mom, dad, sis & bro, their partners and my neice. My 3 cousins and their partners as well as 3 of their kids and my aunt and uncle. So 21 of us all together!!

We had a great day, people arrived at about 10:30 and the last ones left after 23:20, long day!

Food, there was loads of it, chickens, rabbit, borewors (South African sausage), ribs, lots of ribs!! And then salads, potato, lettuce, tomato, a typical Portuguese rice that includes things like the liver, heart, giblets and feet of the chicken (it was actually very nice).  For desssert we had flan, milk tart, chocolate mousse and fruit salad!  What a feast!!

We also played a few games of UNO, such good fun, especially with all the cheating, lol! Losers had to have a shot, ended up being shots of ice tea, such woos's!!  A fab game of footie to end off the fun and I ended up getting injured cos I am way too competitive, was brilliant fun tho!!

Yum, BBQ!!

Medieval Day out

Every year in a town called, Santa Maria da Feira they transform a town into a medieval village for 11 days! They put on shows and have a lot of stalls where various products are sold, the hog roasts are amazing and there is so much to see!

We spent about 8 hours there in total! There were falcons, camels, snakes, people dressed in medieval gear, the kids loved it, although it was quite tiring!  Some fab experiences were seeing camels for the first time ever and the girls touching a snake, they weren't even scared. We also enjoyed a fab meal, however at 10pm as everywhere was so full when we eventually decided to go eat. The food was amazing tho, hog roast sandwiches and some very tasty soup, all good stuff!!

What a brilliant day/night out!

Friday, August 5

Thursday & Friday

The last two days have been relatively quiet with not too much happening. Yesterday we took a nice long walk to the Chinese  restaurant for lunch, such yummy food and the spring rolls are to die for!

Now this is what I call a Spring Roll!

So yummy!

My lunch, yum!

Feeding time at the zoo

Espresso after of course

Today we all woke up early to have a morning at the Zoo. We are lucky to have a "contact" there, so it means we got in for free, whoop!  We first went to see the reptile enclosure, those huge spiders freak me out even if they are behind the glass, I cannot even look. The freakiest thing was the huge python, it decided it didn't like my brothers hand and got into a strike pose, once the kids came close to the window this huge snake lunged forward as if trying to get one of us, we all screamed. I don't think the snake was impressed!

After that, a short show of the seal, we even got to have a kiss afterwards, kids loved it, not something you get to experience every day!

A walk around the rest of the small zoo to see the other animals, monkeys, lions, bears, kangaroo, black swans (never seen them before) and their babies.  All in all a lovely morning spent with the kids and the animals!
